The app would also analyse saved snaps and diaries to deduce a user’s job, climate, hobbies and meetings. It would propose new clothes with the dummy in them or accessories for their own.

An Amazon UK patent bid says: “If a calendar event was entitled, ‘Business meeting with James’, images of professional wear may be selected.

“If entitled, ‘Dancing with friends’, leisure or clubwear may get preference.”

Users would swipe to like or dislike options.

They would also have alternatives such as “Find more like this” and “Randomise” — and be able to share picks online. But experts fear it will hasten the end of the High Street.

Neil Wilson, of analysts Markets.com, said: “This could radically change how we shop.”

Andrew Busby, of analysts Retail Reflections, said: “We’re seeing Darwin’s survival of the fittest on the High Street. The strong will survive because years ago they embraced the internet.”
